Research Overview
The research of my group is focused on the development and application of mass spectrometric methods to interrogate lipid metabolism during disease progression. To this end the group develops mass spectrometry imaging, liquid-chromatography mass spectrometry, derivatization, and sample preparation strategies to chart lipidomic changes and associated multi-omic adaptions within tissues, cells, or body fluids. These new insights are used to unveil underlying metabolic processes during disease progression and identify putative biomolecules for diagnostic use. The developed assays are applied to study infectious diseases (parasite infection) or co-morbidities leading to heart failure.
