“So many tasks! I don’t know where to start!”, is a common challenge when it comes to preparing for exams, writing homework assignments and certainly when facing a doctorate. To eliminate overwhelm and get (the right) things done, it is essential to have a clear goal, a long and midterm-plan and to be organized on a day-to-day basis. As a result of the workshop, each participant has a solid plan and the tools to continue planning. We will also discuss how to deal with delays and other obstacles, so that participants are equiped to navigate challenges as they come up.

We look forward to a lively participation, especially if you yourself live with impairments and are thinking about a doctorate or are already doing one.

The decision to do a doctorate often brings about great changes in life. Apart from content-related and academic challenges, however, questions regarding the purpose of our research activities, and our identity within academia and beyond often receive only little attention, or none at all.
This workshop offers you a space to reflect on issues of professional integrity and identity. We explore how we can (re-)connect soul and role, find purpose and truly ‘make sense’ in our academic workplaces and beyond. For this, we work with mini-inputs, individual reflection, creative writing, circles of trust, powerful questions, and ambulant reflection.

If you are interested in pursuing a doctorate after graduation or have recently started your doctoral project, the three-day Frühjahrsakademie will provide you with valuable support: experts from the graduate institutions of the UA Ruhr universities and experienced trainers will help you find your bearings and make informed decisions.

Advanced Master's students interested in a doctorate at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, TU Dortmund University and/or the University of Duisburg-Essen as well as early doctoral researchers of all subject fields of the UA Ruhr universities can participate.

In order to give as many interested parties as possible access and still provide space for networking, the Frühjahrsakademie will take place in hybrid form this year. You can take part in person in Duisburg or join in virtually for most parts of the opening day on 19 March 2024. You can also choose between on-site and online workshops. You can put together your own program according to your needs and planning. All sessions and workshops are optional and freely selectable.

a presentation is just as important as the WHAT. We will develop the tools with which we can
deliver a convincing all-round package. However, we don't want anyone to bend - the aim is
to improve your persuasiveness in scientific presentations by means of many practical exercises that are customised to your type.
Do you already have a topic that you can or must present soon? Feel free to bring it along.
We'll work on it together!
