2026-04-14 WEML Workshop 2026 Successful WEML Workshop 2026!

On April 9, 2026, the 6th Workshop on Embedded Machine Learning (WEML 2026) took place at the Fraunhofer inHaus Center in Duisburg. The workshop was jointly organized by the IES Lab, ZaKI.D and the HAWAII Lab of Heidelberg University.

The WEML workshop series regularly brings together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to discuss current developments in the field of embedded machine learning.

2026-04-14 AAIML 2026 AAIML 2026 in Tokyo!

At the International Conference on Advances in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AAIML 2026), held from March 20 to 22, 2026 in Tokyo, Japan, Fatih Özgan was represented with his paper “Deep Reinforcement Learning and the IID Assumption”.

The paper was developed in collaboration with Prof. Herman Engelbrecht from Stellenbosch University (South Africa)!

2026-03-31 PerConAI 2026 Best Paper Award received!

We congratulate Florian Hettstedt, Cedric Giese, Tianheng Ling, Andreas Erbslöh, and Gregor Schiele on receiving the Best Paper Award for their paper "Towards an End-to-End System for Real-Time Gesture Recognition from Surface Vibrations" at PerConAI 2026!

In their paper, they present an innovative system that transforms conventional tables into discrete user interfaces through the detection of surface vibrations.
