Production and Operations Management
This lecture presents an overview of traditional and state-of-the-art concepts of production management. The lecture focuses on different types of production planning and control systems (e.g. conventional MRP- and MRP II approaches, Just in Time, Kanban Systems, load-oriented order release, etc.). Furthermore, methods and procedures to analyze the performance of PPC-systems are addressed. Moreover, models of lot sizing, material requirements planning and resource planning are presented. A short introduction into queueing theory is given and the concept of variability is addressed. The lecture content are deepened in exercise courses.
