Erasmus+
Objective of the Erasmus+ programme
The Erasmus+ programme offers various opportunities for international mobility and cooperation. Students, teaching staff and other staff at the University of Duisburg-Essen benefit from stays abroad for study, teaching or further training purposes. In addition, Erasmus+ supports innovative projects and strategic partnerships with European and international universities.
Priorities of the Erasmus+ programme
The following priorities have been defined for the Erasmus+ programme generation 2021–2027:
- inclusion and diversity
- digital transformation
- environment and fight against climate change
- participation in democratic life
Erasmus+ at UDE
The University of Duisburg-Essen has an excellent network across Europe: with more than 400 exchange agreements with 250 partner universities in 30 countries, Erasmus+ offers a wide variety of opportunities for studying, teaching, work placements and further training in other countries throughout Europe.
Every year, about 400 UDE students go abroad using Erasmus+, either for study purposes or for a work placement. At the same time, approximately 150 exchange students from partner universities come to UDE. Around 70 teaching staff and other UDE staff also go abroad using Erasmus+ every year, for teaching or further training purposes.
Erasmus+ mobility programmes
Mobility across Europe (KA131)
Erasmus+ supports exchanges for students and university staff within Europe – in person, online or combined in the form of blended mobility. Funding can be provided for stays for the purposes of studying and practical experience, teaching visits as well as further training and education at European partner institutions.
Erasmus+ student mobility
Through the Erasmus+ student mobility funding line, the International Office supports stays abroad at Erasmus+ partner institutions, work placements in other European countries and participation in blended intensive programmes, a combination of online and in-person mobility.
Erasmus+ teaching staff mobility
As part of an Erasmus+ teaching staff mobility, UDE teaching staff can spend a period usually lasting between one and two weeks at one of our 200 Erasmus+ partner institutions with both funding and organisational support provided. The programme specifically also addresses early career researchers who wish to expand their networks and acquire further qualifications abroad.
Erasmus+ staff mobility
The Erasmus+ staff mobility funding line serves to support further training and education for UDE staff for the purposes of further professional qualification and international collaboration at European universities or other host institutions. Possible formats include participation in an Erasmus+ staff week, job shadowing, participation in workshops and seminars or, by arrangement, participation in language courses.
Worldwide mobility (KA171)
Erasmus+ also allows mobilities to partner countries outside Europe, thus expanding international exchange beyond the borders of the EU. Funding is available for stays for study and teaching purposes, work placements and further training at selected partner institutions outside Europe. Similar to mobility programmes with European partners, subject-specific exchange agreements are concluded with non-European higher education institutions.
Current projects
Mobilities to and from the partner countries below can currently be funded as part of KA171. Please note that funding is restricted to individual subjects and faculties, i.e. applications from other disciplines cannot be considered.
