Studying at the Faculty of Chemistry
The chemistry study programme includes theoretical and practical courses. We place great emphasis on this close combination of theory and practice. In the practical course, the material covered in the lectures and seminars is expanded upon by means of numerous preparations, analyses and didactically selected experiments.

Practical courses in the Chemistry study programmes
The practical course should enable students to carry out instrumental analyses independently and to evaluate their results in relation to quality. Here, the students will further deepen the knowledge they have gained from the lectures on Analytical Chemistry I and II and reproduce it themselves using practical examples.
Introductory practical course in Physiological Chemistry/Physiology
Master’s practical course in Inorganic Chemistry
The Inorganic Chemistry advanced practical course is broken down into two thematic blocks: the Solid State Chemistry part and the Molecular Chemistry part.
Solid State Chemistry
In this practical course, you will get to know various modern analytical techniques embedded in research projects. You will be able to assess and critically evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of these methods, and you will also learn the scientific documentation of the data generated.
Practical course in Biochemistry
Practical course in Physiology
Practical course in Physics for Chemists
Practical courses in Water Science study programmes
Practical course in Instrumental Analytics
As part of this practical course, you will learn both how to carry out chemical analysis experiments using instrumental procedures and the evaluation of data and its scientific documentation.
Practical course in Water Chemistry and Analytics
The possibilities and limitations of processes of modern water analytics and treatment are explored using practical experiments on a model basis. The interpretation and evaluation of the results are the learning objective of this practical course.

Practical Course Environmental Microbiology
In this practical course, you will learn different, modern analytical techniques embedded in research projects. You can estimate and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of these methods critically. Furthermore, you will learn the scientific documentation of the generated data.
Practical courses for Education study programmes
Practical courses for Chemistry as a minor subject
The aim of this practical course is the acquisition of practical knowledge in analytical chemistry and the understanding of how to select and use appropriate analytical techniques to address environmentally relevant problems.
Evonik internship between master's degree and doctorate
The Faculty of Chemistry has developed a new internship program in cooperation with Evonik Industries AG. Here, students can gain initial industrial experience in the period between their master's thesis and doctoral dissertation and obtain specific information for their later career choice. Evonik offers the opportunity for a 3-month internship here at the Hanau site. The focus here is primarily on synthetic work. So if you would like to see first-hand how laboratory syntheses are carried out in industry and how a large industrial company works - this is your chance!
The contact person at UDE is Prof. Dr. Jochen Niemeyer (email@example.com). He is available at all times to answer questions and will be happy to forward your application to Evonik. The interns are selected by Evonik. You can find further information in our flyer. https://www.uni-due.de/imperia/md/content/fb9/evonik_praktikum_en.pdf
