(Cryo-)Ultramicrotome with a video system and a big 40" screen for live workflow observations. The system can be used to generate semi- and ultrathin section either of resin-embedded specimens or of frozen cryo-samples.
Automated post-staining system (uranyl acetate + lead citrate) for ultrathin sample sections on standard TEM grids.
The system is mainly used for hydrophilization and cleaning of TEM grids potentially coated with carbon support films to ensure a better spreading of aqueous solutions.

With this device scanning electron microscopic samples are critical-point-dried which is necessary before sputtering
With this device the surfaces of specimens are sputter coated with metals (platinum, palladium, gold or chrome) for better visualisation.
For some samples it is reasonable to perform carbon sputter coating before investigation on the scanning electron microscope. This device exclusively is used for that purpose.
