Electrocatalysis and In-Depth Electrochemical Characterization of Structure–Activity and Defect– Activity Relations

Project A2 explores the electrocatalytic properties of the mixed iron-cobalt spinel and perovskite catalysts synthesized in Area C including combined operando electrochemical/spectroscopic techniques as well as single-entity electrochemical approaches. The main reactions are the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), and the oxidation of isopropanol, cyclohexane and cyclohexene. Single-particle electrocatalysis will be extended to a particle-at-the-stick methodology as well as the visualization of electrocatalysis at individual nanoparticles using high-resolution techniques such as scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM).
