Prof. Hendgen-Cotta receives Research Prize from the Ernst von Wnuck - Foundation
Professor Hendgen-Cotta, Head of the CardioScienceLabs at the Department of Cardiology and Angiology, has been awarded with the Ernst von Wnuck - Foundation Research Prize for her pioneering research in the field of mitochondrial protection. “It is a great pleasure and honor to award an outstanding scientist from the University Medicine Essen with the Ernst von Wnuck - Foundation Research Prize for her pioneering research in the field of mitochondrial protection in this festive setting today,” said the founder of the foundation, Dr. med. vet. Dr. med. Ernst von Wnuck.
In a scientific career spanning more than two decades, Professor Hendgen-Cotta has devoted herself very successfully to fundamental and translational issues in the pathophysiology and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. In particular, her work on new functions of proteins has far-reaching significance for cardiovascular mitochondrial research and research into new therapies for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction.
