Declaration on accessibility

The Duisburg-Essen University Library aims to make its websites and mobile applications accessible in accordance with the national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and the Ordinance on the creation of barrier-free Information Technology under the North Rhine-Westphalia Disability Equality Act.

The following declaration on accessibility applies to the central websites of the University Library (www.uni-due.de/ub/...).

Level of compatibility with the requirements

The central websites of the Duisburg-Essen University Library are partially compliant with EU Directive 2016/2102.

The declaration was created on 08.10.2020 and is based on a self-assessment carried out in accordance with BITV.

Non-accessible content

The contents listed below are not or only partially accessible:

Documents embedded in the website (pdf, doc/docx, ppt/pptx, xls/xlsx)
Documents that were uploaded before October 2020 may not be accessible. Due to the very large number of documents, it has not yet been possible to convert them completely into an accessible format. Subsequent processing will be carried out successively.

Videos embedded in the website (1.2.2 and 1.2.3)
The provision of videos (short trips, tutorials) with an audio description has not yet been realised.

Alternative texts for non-textual content (1.1.1 a-c)
Alternative texts for images and operating elements are missing in some cases. These will be added successively.

Forms (1.3.5. a)
Most of our forms do not use auto-completion. If you need a form that is not yet accessible, please contact us at information.ub@uni-due.de.

Our websites do not contain any information in sign language or plain language.
We aim to use language that is as simple as possible. Due to the complexity of the content, it is not always possible to use simple language ( for example, avoiding technical terms and abbreviations). Abbreviations are avoided wherever possible or at least introduced in full when the term first appears.
