Benefits for members of the University of Duisburg-Essen

• Through a contract between the UDE and MDPI, UDE authors receive a 30% discount on APCs
• Author fees (APCs) are paid centrally from UDE. Invoices are processed by the University Library
• Costs that exceed the maximum funding amount of €2,000 must be financed from your own financial resources. In this regard, please refer to our funding conditions.
• Note: We are currently observing MDPI with regard to the very fast processing times including reviews, intensive advertising measures and a rapid increase in special issues. Please note the evaluation and survey from the University Library Kassel.

Requirements

• You are a member of the UDE and responsible for the payment of APCs as corresponding author
• UDE students can apply for article funding if a member of the supervising faculty supports or approves the publication of the paper. In these cases, funding is only granted upon application and is decided on a case-by-case basis
• The University of Duisburg-Essen or the University Hospital must be specified as the first affiliation
• The journal must be a "genuine open access journal" that is listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals and that applies recognised, strict quality assurance procedures in the respective subject area. Articles in journals that have been removed from the DOAJ are no longer funded. E.g. ‘International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health’ and ‘Sustainability’
