Right at the beginning of our event series, the Welcome Service wants to welcome you.

Through the Welcome Service of the International Office, the University offers a contact point for international guest researchers to assist them in planning and implementing their stay at UDE. After a welcome address by Prof. Dr Barbara Buchenau, the Welcome Service informs about its support formats for international researchers and host institutes. After that, we want to provide a space of exchange and discussion across countries, campuses, faculties and institutes.

Target group: international researchers, all levels

13:00h: Welcome Address by Prof. Dr Barbara Buchenau, Vice-Rector for Social Responsibility, Diversity and International Affairs

13:30h: Introduction to the Welcome Service plus Q&A session by Carla Gierich and Udo Rasum

14:00h: Living and doing research in the Ruhr Area: interview with international researchers

14:30h: World Café/Round Tables for open discussion and further exchange

Café-Lingua is organised by the Studierendenwerk Essen-Duisburg and offers you the opportunity to practice languages with native speakers and other language learners in a relaxed atmosphere. Participants can talk with each other regardless of their level of procifiency. Café-Lingua is currently conducted via Zoom, please follow this link to the website of the Studierendenwerk to get more information and take part in the event.

Target group: everyone who is interested in practicing languages and meeting new people

The mobility program of the European Union ERASMUS+ not only offers students the possibility of a stay abroad, but is also open to lecturers and all other employees of UDE. If you are interested in further education and training abroad or would like to gain teaching experience abroad, this event will provide you with all the information you need about the existing opportunities within the program.

The Science Support Centre (SSC) is a central facility at the University of Duisburg-Essen supporting researchers with research funding, providing promotion of young researchers, helping with research transfer (e.g. through event support, research publications etc.) and giving start-up advice. During this event, the SSC will present their services and show you how you can profit from their expertise.

Wenn ein*e internationale*r Wissenschaftler*in ins Team kommen soll, stellen sich einige Fragen: wie lange dauert die Beantragung eines Visums? Wie ist das mit der Krankenversicherung? Wer organisiert Kinderbetreuung für mitreisende Kinder? Wir möchten Ihnen zeigen, wie der Welcome Service Sie bei diesen und anderen Fragen unterstützen kann und Ihnen unsere Checkliste für gastgebende Institute vorstellen.

Natürlich gehen wir auch gerne auf Ihre individuellen Fragen ein. Die Veranstaltung wird auf Deutsch durchgeführt.

Zielgruppe: Diese Veranstaltung richtet sich sowohl an gastgebende Institute als auch an andere eingebundene Stellen der Universität wie z.B. die Personalabteilung, Bereich Drittmittelförderung etc.
