I am planning a research stay at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Will I be able to carry it out?

Currently, the situation is constantly changing so that we cannot give general recommendations. At present, the German government urges citizens to refrain from travelling unless this is urgently required. It is unclear how long this regulation will remain in place. Please also consider the travel regulations of your country of origin. For further advice, please contact us or your host faculty.

I am an international researcher at the University of Duisburg-Essen and my residence permit will expire shortly/needs to be extended. How can I reach the foreigners’ registration office?

The foreigners’ registration offices are closed to the public at the moment but can be contacted by e-mail. Please write to us at We will support you in finding a solution in consultation with the foreigners’ registration office.

I am an international researcher at the University of Duisburg-Essen but would like to return home. What can I do?
