We are glad to offer you a position as a PhD Student (m/f/d) - (Pay grade E13 TV-L / 65% - temporary employment)

The pay grade classification depends on the personal and collective legal requirements. The employment is initially scheduled for a period of 3 years with the aim of obtaining a doctorate.

The Institute of Experimental Immunology and Imaging deals with the visualization and functional analysis of immune cells in vitro and in vivo. The focus is on neutrophil granulocytes. The work focuses on the molecular analysis of neutrophil function in ischemic stroke (Otxoa-de-Amezaga A et al. , Stroke (2019), Lugo-Hernandez JCBFM (2017), Neumann et al, Acta Neuropathol (2015), Herz et al, Stroke (2015))

Your responsibilities:

  • Determination of the importance of neutrophil granulocytes in the course of ischaemic stroke
  • Flow cytometry is used to determine the kinetics of neutrophil infiltration in stroke models (tMCAO, pMCAO) using laboratory animals (mice)
  • Functional characterisation of brain infiltratingneutrophils and local micro-organisms Glia with flow cytometry and light sheet microscopy to compare the vascular network in in-tact or ischemically altered brain area

Your profile:

  • Master's or diploma degree in biology or immunology
  • Knowledge of microscopy and flow cytometry is an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of English
