Activities and responsibilities:

Project:   Investigate the impact of Covid-19 on the function of human neutrophil granulocytes

In a highly timely project we want to study the impact of Covid-19 on the migratory performance of human neutrophils. In a study together with the clinic for infectiology You will analyze peripheral blood neutrophils of a cohort of Covid-19 patients for their migratory performance in an established in vitro assay. The question is, whether patients on track for a severe clinical course of the infection will develop measurable changes in their neutrophils that can be used to herald an aggravation of the health condition before it becomes clinically apparent. This might win physicians and patients precious time for an adequate clinical response before a situation spirals out of control.

- Highly motivated, team-oriented bachelor/master students (d/f/m) with interest in medical immunology, and immunology

- Students with a strong interested in learning new research technologies (especially cell migration analysis and coordination of large patient cohorts)

- Prior experience on basic microscopical and immunological methods would be a plus

We offer:

-  Work in a highly relevant field on a project with high applicative potential

- Integrative planning and performance of the different in vivo and in vitro experiments

- Teaching of the state-of-the-art technologies in immunology and cell biology
