Kurzlebenslauf

Sam war von November 2018 bis Januar 2024 ein externer PhD-Student. Er erhielt seinen Masterabschluss in "Embedded Systems Engineering" mit Fokus auf das Internet der Dinge an der Universität Duisburg-Essen. Seit seinem Abschluss im Dezember 2017 arbeitet er als Product Developer bei der Deutschen Telekom GmbH und verteidigte im Januar 2024 schließlich seine Dissertation mit dem Titel "Towards the optimal orchestration of service funtion chains to enable ultra-reliable low latency communications in an NFV-enabled network".

Forschung

Seine Forschung fokussiert sich auf zwei gegensätzliche Netzwerkarchitekturen: Network Function Virtualisation (NFV) und Software-Defined Networking (SDN). NFV und SDN sind zwei sehr vielversprechende Netzwerkarchitekturen, um die wachsenden Anforderungen an eine vollvernetzte Welt erfüllen zu können und diese durch eine effizientere und flexiblere Netzwerkinfrastrukturen umzusetzen.

Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Optimierungstechniken, Netzwerk-Quality-of-Service (QoS), Performanceanalysen, Cloud & Edge Computing und Netzwerkmanagement.
