Kurzlebenslauf

Dr. Gregor Schiele ist Professor für eingebettete Systeme und leitet seit November 2014 an der Universität Duisburg-Essen das Fachgebiet Eingebettete Systeme der Informatik am Campus Duisburg. Zuvor war er von 2012 bis 2014 am Insight Centre for Data Analytics und am Digital Enterprise Research Inistitute (DERI) sowie an der National University of Ireland, Galway, Irland tätig. Von 2006 bis 2012 arbeitete er am Lehrstuhl von Prof. Dr. Christian Becker an der Universität Mannheim. Seine Promotion verfasste er 2007 an der Universität Stuttgart am Lehrstuhl von Prof. Dr. Kurt Rothermel.

Forschungsinteresse

Kern meines aktuellen Forschungsinteresses sind adaptive eingebettete Systeme sowie das Internet der Dinge. Hierbei interessiere ich mich vor allem dafür, wie eingebettete Systeme z.B. mit Hilfe von dreidimensionalen Umgebungsmodellen und Methoden der künstlichen Intelligenz möglichst wartungsfrei, kostengünstig und zuverlässig über sehr lange Betriebsdauern von mehreren Jahren bis zu Jahrzehnten betrieben werden können.
