The programme is structured around three comprehensive modules. "Future Challenges" delves into pressing topics like megatrends, digital transformation in education, and sustainability. "Next Level Skills" focuses on refining leadership capabilities and fostering inclusive communication, also in the virtual realm. "New Ways of Student Organising" explores democratic engagement, values within higher education, and the art of effective networking.

Each semester, participants engage in 10 immersive virtual sessions conducted in small, facilitated groups. The programme also offers the opportunity to earn micro-credentials (ECTS), providing tangible recognition for their efforts.

This welcome session sets the stage for your learning adventure: vibrant discussions, intercultural exchange, and hands-on development of leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills. Future skills and megatrends

In a fast-changing world, student leaders must not only adapt but lead transformation. This session introduces strategic foresight—an approach to understanding long-term societal shifts and megatrends. You’ll explore how these trends influence education, governance, and activism, and which skills are essential for future leadership. Using future-oriented tools and participatory methods, you’ll reflect on your own context and leadership journey while imagining possible futures. How can student leaders stay agile, informed, and visionary in a complex world? Through interactive exercises and group discussion, this session invites you to develop the mindset and capacity to anticipate change and influence positive outcomes in your institutions and communities.

Digitalisation and digital transformation

Digitalization is reshaping the world—and leadership must evolve with it. In this session, you will explore the impact of digital transformation on communication, governance, and leadership. From artificial intelligence and algorithms to digital tools and platforms, this session helps you understand how emerging technologies affect decision-making and operations. You’ll reflect on the ethical use of data, digital inclusion, and how to lead effectively in online and hybrid environments. Through interactive simulations and case studies, you’ll gain skills to drive innovation, champion transparency, and engage meaningfully with digital change.

Sustainability and the SDGs

How can student leaders become agents of sustainability? This session introduces you to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and challenges you to turn global goals into local action. Developed in collaboration with UNESCO partners and sustainability experts, this session brings student leaders together from Africa and Europe to exchange perspectives and learn practical strategies. You’ll explore how to build alliances, communicate your vision, and design actions that create real change. Through dialogue, teamwork, and practical exercises, you’ll gain the confidence and tools to promote sustainability on campus and beyond. You’ll also explore digital tools and platforms that support effective communication in student leadership. Together with peers from Europe and Africa, you’ll reflect on the challenges of virtual communication and learn how to build trust, clarity, and inclusion in your messaging. Whether addressing your student body or engaging stakeholders, this session equips you to communicate with intention, impact, and confidence.

Conflict Resolution for Student Leaders

Conflict is part of leadership—but when managed well, it leads to growth, clarity, and stronger relationships. This session helps you navigate the tensions that arise in student unions, teams, and governance settings. You’ll examine the roots of conflict, learn how to spot early signs of tension, and practice key techniques like active listening, negotiation, and emotional regulation. Through case studies and role-playing, you’ll gain confidence to manage disagreements constructively—whether among peers, with university officials, or within your own team. By developing emotional intelligence and a solutions-oriented mindset, you’ll become a stronger, more inclusive leader—capable of transforming conflict into collaboration.

Effective Communication Between Student Leaders and Decision Makers

This session empowers you with the skills to communicate confidently and strategically with institutional, community, and policy decision-makers. As a student leader, you often act as a bridge between students and those in power—yet navigating these spaces requires clarity, confidence, and diplomacy. You will explore stakeholder mapping, understand power dynamics, and learn how to tailor your message to different audiences. The session emphasizes emotional intelligence, persuasive communication, and the ethical use of digital tools for advocacy. By the end, you’ll be equipped to initiate meaningful dialogue, build professional relationships, and advocate for student needs effectively—transforming your voice into impact within governance structures.

Cross-Sector Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement for Student Leaders

Effective student leadership means building strong, lasting partnerships. In this session, you’ll gain practical skills to engage stakeholders across sectors—from government and civil society to private enterprise. You will explore trust-based collaboration models and learn how to lead initiatives that tackle global challenges like climate change, inequality, and social justice. Facilitated by experts from Europe and Africa and backed by the EU-funded NELS project, this session emphasizes real-world impact and inclusive development. Through group work and interactive activities, you’ll strengthen your capacity to develop multi-stakeholder strategies that go beyond transactional engagement—building shared purpose, mutual benefit, and long-term change.

New Ways of Student Organising I

This session explores how student movements in Europe and Africa have evolved, focusing on their historical roots, regional differences, and emerging global trends. Participants will examine landmark student movements, compare organising strategies across contexts, and analyse the role of digital activism, intersectionality, and coalition-building in today’s student-led advocacy. Through guest speakers, case studies, and group activities, students will critically engage with the successes and ongoing challenges faced by student organisations. The session encourages reflection on the influence of students in shaping political discourse and policy. Students will gain a comparative understanding of activism across continents and develop the analytical skills needed to understand and support student mobilisation efforts in a global context.

New Ways of Student Organising II

This hands-on session equips students with the core frameworks, skills, and tools needed to organise effective student movements. Participants will learn to identify issues, structure advocacy campaigns, and navigate legal and governance frameworks. The session emphasises practical skills such as public speaking, negotiation, social media mobilisation, and time management. Students will engage in interactive workshops, simulations, and planning exercises to practice organising strategies. They will also learn how to build sustainable movements, manage internal dynamics, and address resistance from authorities. By the end, students will be prepared to lead campaigns, foster coalitions, and plan for long-term impact in student advocacy work, drawing from global best practices and their own local contexts.
