The Center for Higher Education and Quality Development (ZfH) is a central unit of the University of Duisburg-Essen. The role of ZfH is to support the rector, faculties and researchers in the development and improvement of quality in teaching and learning. The Center for Higher Education and Quality Development (ZfH) cooperates closely with faculties, central administration and other service organizations to optimize the structures, processes and interfaces within the university. Moreover it contributes to the promotion of young academics as well as managing diversity.

The three fields of the ZfH are:

The activities of the ZFH cover the following areas:

  • Coordination of the university-wide mentoring system
  • Training and advice to lecturers and tutors
  • Career support of graduate students and postdoctorate researchers considering gender aspects
  • Institutional Evaluation
  • Evaluation of courses
  • Development of the quality management system of the UDE
  • Support for academic programs in the anchoring of e-learning concepts in teaching
  • Advice and support to institutions in the development and implementation of diversity policies
  • Initiation and support of innovation and development projects (project/ application-scouting and coaching) in faculties
