How reliable are statistical data – and where are their limits? Around 500 experts will discuss these questions at Statistical Week, held from 8 to 11 September on the Essen campus. The programme ranges from AI and the labour market to renewable energy.

AI, quantum technologies and biotechnology are transforming the world of work and society. The new research consortium of the German Institute for Interdisciplinary Social Policy Research is investigating how these technologies affect social risks and institutions.

A dataset often contains a variety of interrelationships. It is not always possible to accurately describe these using a single model. Computer scientists led by Professor Torben Weis have developed a method that meaningfully groups data when the interrelationships are unclear.
