Key Qualifications for Your (Research) Career
During the postdoc phase, you will set the course for your future career path. Our offers support you in preparing for the next steps in the best possible way – regardless of whether you are aiming for a career in academia, a job in science management, a position in business, or employment in a non-governmental organisation.
In addition to expertise in your field of research, competencies such as communication skills, teamwork abilities, or self-management skills are important for your academic and personal development. The same applies to growing interdisciplinary networks and exchanging experiences with fellow researchers. This is why we offer most of our workshops, career and networking events for postdocs jointly with our partner universities as part of the UA Ruhr Research Academy.

Postdoc Appreciation Week Germany
Postdoc Appreciation Week (PAW) is an annual celebration of the contributions and achievements of postdoctoral researchers around the world. The first PAW was organised in 2009 by the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) in the United States, with the goal of recognising the vital role that postdocs play in advancing scientific research and innovation. Since its inception, PAW has grown into a global event, with institutions and organisations from several countries, including Canada, Ireland, Germany, Portugal, the UK and, most recently, Austria and the Netherlands participating in the celebration. The week-long event is typically held in the third week of September and features a range of activities, like seminars, workshops, social events, and more. It’s also a chance for postdocs to connect with their colleagues, share their experiences, and celebrate their achievements.
As GC Plus, we use this opportunity to express UDE's appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our postdoctoral researchers, and to recognise the significant contributions they make to the scientific community by offering additional workshops. You can find the full programme and our offers every year in July here.
