RURASMUS

A RURASMUS semester offers a learning experience that goes far beyond what a regular semester can provide. The opportunity to live and work directly within a local community has had a lasting impact on my perspective on architecture and community development, showing me just how important direct engagement with local people truly is.
RURASMUS – A Semester in Rural Europe
During a RURASMUS semester, students work and conduct research on a compelling topic related to their field of study while making a meaningful contribution to the future development of a municipality or region. In doing so, they not only broaden the perspectives of local communities but also develop valuable skills for the future.
What does a RURASMUS semester involve?
- Who can apply?
RURASMUS is looking for motivated, independent students who are eager to work on forward-looking research questions and practical challenges. - Free accommodation and workspace
Accommodation and a dedicated workspace in the host municipality are provided free of charge throughout the programme. - Local support through buddies
Every RURASMUS municipality has local "buddies" who help students settle into the community, build connections, and support them throughout their project. - Networking and exchange
Students have regular opportunities to network, exchange ideas, and share experiences with fellow RURASMUS participants. - Ideal for Bachelor's and Master's theses
RURASMUS is particularly well suited for practice-oriented Bachelor's and Master's theses carried out in a rural context.
