McCloy-Scholarship Program

Is your goal to take on a leadership role in the public sector? You have earned excellent grades in your undergraduate studies and are aiming to earn a master’s degree at the Harvard Kennedy School of Governance? If so, the McCloy Scholarship Program might be just right for you.
Since 1983, the McCloy Scholarship Program of the German National Academic Foundation has enabled students to earn a master’s degree at the Harvard Kennedy School.
Benefits at a Glance:
- Admission to the German National Academic Foundation
- Admission to the Haniel Foundation network
- Monthly scholarship of 2,500 U.S. dollars
- One-time startup grant of $500
- Travel allowance of $1,000
- Tuition capped at 10,000 euros per academic year
- Possibility to reduce out-of-pocket costs through a fund provided by the McCloy Alumni Association e.V.
Application Requirements:
- Open to all fields of study
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, Diplom, or doctoral degree completed with a grade of at least “good” at the time of enrollment at the Harvard Kennedy School
- Experience studying abroad
- Preferably some initial professional experience
- Strong communication skills and an interest in practice-oriented issues
- applicant’s most recent university degree (including a doctorate) must not have been awarded more than five years prior. The date on the degree certificate applies.
- scholarship may be combined with other scholarships, such as the DAAD, to reduce the applicant’s out-of-pocket costs. Prior funding from the Studienstiftung is not required
