Measures to be taken after 3 May

What are the next steps at UDE?

Continued distancing while loosening first restrictions – the agreements made between the federal government and the states for containing the coronavirus pandemic are also applied at UDE.

The joint resolution by federal and state governments stipulates that higher education institutions will be permitted to conduct a larger number of examinations from 4 May. Practical courses that require specific laboratory or working environments will also be permitted provided that special hygiene and safety measures are applied. Libraries may be allowed to reopen, with hygiene-related conditions and access restrictions to be imposed.

The University Board will now develop a strategy on how this can be implemented at UDE. Over the next two weeks, plans and procedures will be developed as to how UDE can carefully increase operations step by step and in a controlled manner. The next steps will also be planned for the university library. Of course, safety and hygiene regulations will be considered in these plans.

Many of the measures implemented until now will remain in place until 3 May. This means that buildings and canteens will remain closed and the majority of staff will continue to work from home.

However, classes will start in digital form on 20 April as planned.

As usual, further information will be provided on the website and in further episodes of the video podcast with statements from the University Board (only in German).
