University Open Day on 25 June

Get to Know UDE – from A to Z

  • 08.06.2026

The hard work has paid off – the Abitur is finally done! But what comes next? Shortly before the application deadline for degree programmes with restricted admission, the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) is inviting prospective students to its University Open Day. On Thursday, 25 June, visitors can explore the university, learn about its wide range of degree programmes and scholarship opportunities, and get to know campus life. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.

What does a lecture hall look like? What exactly do students learn there? And do you have to be an exceptional high achiever to receive a scholarship? These are just some of the questions many prospective students ask.

Programme

From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., degree programmes across the university will offer information sessions, laboratory tours, campus tours and taster lectures. Some events require prior registration.

The UDE Summer Festival will begin at 1 p.m. on the Essen campus, providing a great opportunity to experience the atmosphere of university life first-hand.

Students interested in funding opportunities can attend the UDE Scholarship Day from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Glass Pavilion (R12) on the Essen campus. Representatives of scholarship organisations and current scholarship holders will be available to answer questions and provide information.

From 4 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., the Glass Pavilion (R12) will also host the Long Evening of Student Advisory Services, featuring individual advice sessions and presentations on topics such as applications, enrolment and teacher-training programmes. Current students will share insights into everyday university life in lecture hall R11 T00 D05.
