International Symposium
Treating Water Sustainably with Membrane Technology
- 09.10.2025
- English version
How can water be treated and reused more efficiently? At the International Symposium on Membrane Science and Technology for Water Sustainability on 21 October 2025 at the University of Duisburg-Essen, researchers from around the world will discuss the latest findings on materials, processes and strategies in membrane process engineering.
Water scarcity, rising consumption and increasing pollution call for new technological solutions. Membrane systems play a crucial role in this context – they enable the purification, desalination and reuse of water in a resource-efficient manner. The symposium will bring international experts together in the Glass Pavilion on the Essen Campus to highlight advances in membrane science and technology.
The event is organised by Prof. Zhijun Ren (Hebei University of Technology, Tianjin, China) together with Prof. Mathias Ulbricht, Prof. Hannah Roth and Prof. Stefan Panglisch (University of Duisburg-Essen). The programme includes contributions on new membrane materials, mechanisms of membrane fouling and their control, as well as innovative processes for water and resource recovery.
Participation is free of charge. Interested parties may register by 15 October 2025 with Sandra Watermeier:
