Orientation afternoons for last-minute applicants

You’ve passed your A-levels, but haven’t secured a place at university yet? With the winter semester about to begin, the University of Duisburg-Essen is offering guidance for last-minute applicants: from 28 September to 1 October, the zdi-Zentrum DU.MINT Duisburg will be hosting three afternoons, each showcasing two degree programmes with no entry requirements in the STEM fields – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Prospective students will gain an insight into everyday university life, have the opportunity to visit laboratories and clarify any questions they may have in one-to-one discussions with lecturers and students. The programme covers a wide range of topics, from social robots and astrophysics to nanotechnology.
All events will take place from 3 pm to 5.30 pm on Duisburg campus (in German):
- Monday, 28 September: Physics, Energy Science, Physics Teacher Training
Room MD 150, Lotharstr. 1, 47057 Duisburg - Wednesday, 30 September: NanoEngineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
Room BA 114, Bismarckstraße 81, 47057 Duisburg - Thursday, 1 October 2026: Computer Science, Human-Centred Computing and Psychology

“With so much choice available, many find it difficult to decide which degree programme to choose after leaving school. We want to support young people in making this decision and show them that it’s still perfectly possible to enrol even shortly before the start of the semester,” says Sarah Haefs, STEM coordinator at the zdi-Zentrum DU.MINT Duisburg.
