ERASMUS stands for "European Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students". Through the ERASMUS program, students can spend an exchange semester or an exchange year at one of the faculty's approximately 50 European partner universities.

  1. The students fill in the online application form.
Application deadline: 31st of January (for the upcoming winter semester and for the summer semester next year).
    Application requirements:
    • Duration of stay: At least 3 months (90 days), max. 12 months
    • Grade point average: 2.7 or higher
  2. After filling in the application form, the automatically generated copy of the PDF file needs to be sent to iw-auslandssemester@uni-due.de, along with the following supporting documents:
    • CV including a profile photo
    • Cover letter
    • Transcript of records (the latest)
    • List of courses (including syllabus) that will be taken
  3. By reference to the list of applicants a ranking will be made according the following scheme:
    • Quotient combined of performance quality and performance quantity
    • Performance quality: grade point average of all achievements assigned with credits points
    • Performance quantity: a relation between the achieved actual credit points and the appropriate target credit points. The latter corresponds to the number of semester multiplied by 30.
    • The ranking contribution should outvalue 4. This corresponds to a grade point average of 2.7 of at least 20 ECTS per semester.
  4. The most suitable applicants will be chosen according to the ranking and the available places of each partner university.
  5. The list of applicants will be forwarded to the International Office (IO) Deadline: 15th of March
  6. After 15th of March: The IO nominates the students at the partner universities and informs them about their acceptance.
  7. The selected students choose the lectures at the partner university and fill in the Learning Agreement.
    • Exams that once have been already taken at UDE, can NOT be retaken at the partner university during a study abroad.
  8. The filled-in Learning Agreement and the latest copy of the complete transcript of records (NOT the applicant transcript of records!) along with the syllabus of chosen lectures from the partner university are to be submitted at the Commission for International Affairs (KI) of the faculty.
    Deadline: 31st of March
  9. The KI sends the Learning Agreements to the responsible examination board for official signing (Deadline: 1 week)
  10. The KI gives one copy of the Learning Agreement to the students and retains one copy.
  11. The partner universities send documents to the nominated students, such as module catalog, information about accommodation etc. and inform them about the application procedure via e-mail.
  12. The students apply at the partner universities independently and take care of the accommodation by themselves (with application documents from the partner universities; applications procedures and deadlines vary for each university!).
  13. The students send a copy of their Learning Agreement to the KI. The copy needs to be signed by the partner university.
  14. The students start planning their study abroad by themselves. They check if their passport/ID card and health insurance are valid, apply for international student grant (BaföG) etc.
  15. During the semester abroad:

    • Have the certificate of ERASMUS+ grant from the IO of the partner university signed and stamped and then send it to the IO of UDE.
