Promotion and Habilitation

Habilitation

The habilitation should certify that the candidate is able to independently represent a scientific subject of the Faculty of Engineering in research and teaching. It is the prerequisite for the award of the venia legendi (authorization to teach). The duration of the habilitation procedure should not exceed twelve months since submission of the application for admission. The applicant must have a special aptitude for scientific work, as evidenced by proof of a doctoral examination at a German university or an equivalent academic degree from a foreign scientific university, and prove that he/she has done further scientific work beyond the requirements in the scientific subject for which he/she is seeking the teaching qualification after obtaining the doctorate.
