Login with PIN or password?

You need both - depending on where you need to authenticate.

What is my PIN?

When you register, you choose your PIN yourself. Exception: If you already had a library account in April 2021, the PIN defaults to your date of birth in the form DDMMYYYY.

You can change this PIN at any time via your library account in Primo.

What do I need my PIN for?

How can I change my PIN?

Go to Primo and log in to your library account.

You can change your PIN under "My account".

What should my PIN look like?

The PIN is purely numeric and needs to consist of 8 digits.

For security reasons, your PIN and password should be different.

Forgotten your PIN - what next?

You can re-enter this PIN at any time under "My Account" > "Personal Details" in Primo.

What is my password?

This depends on which user group you belong to.

Students of the UDE:
You log in via Shibboleth with your university ID and the corresponding password.

UDE staff members:

  • Your university ID is already linked to your
    library account:

    You log in via Shibboleth with your university ID and the corresponding password. It is not possible to log in with the number of your library card.
  • Your university ID is not yet linked to your
    library account:

    You can only log in to Primo with the number of your library card and a newly assigned password. This password was sent to you by email with the system change.
    If you would like to have your university ID entered in your library account, please contact the lending desk
    (ausleihe.ub@uni-due.de).

External users:
You log in with the number of your library card and the password you assigned when you registered.

How can I change my password?

Students of the UDE,
UDE staff members (with university ID in the library account):
You use your university ID for the login. You can change the password for your university ID via the ZIM self-care portal.

UDE staff members (without university ID in the library account),
external users:

You use the number of your library card to log in.
Go to Primo and log in to your library account. You can change your password under "My account".

What should my password look like?

For security reasons, your PIN and password should be different.

A secure password ...

  • is at least eight characters long
  • does not contain your user name or real name
  • contains characters from each of the following four character types:
    uppercase letters (A - Z)
    lowercase letters (a - z)
    numbers (0 - 9) 
    symbols, such as ( ) [ ] { } ? ! $ % & = * + ~ , . ; : < > - _

Forgotten your password - what next?

Students of the UDE,
UDE staff members (with university ID in the library account):
You use your university ID to log in. If you have forgotten your password, please contact the ZIM hotline or the e-Point.

UDE staff members (without university ID in the library account),
external users:

You use the number of your library card for login.
If you have forgotten the password, you can reset it yourself.

In the following dialog, enter your library card number or the email address you provided during registration. Send this and look in your email account for the mail with the subject "Reset password". Follow the further instructions.
