Habilitation at the Faculty of Engineering

The habilitation is intended to certify that the applicant is able to independently represent a scientific subject of the Faculty of Engineering in research and teaching. The habilitation is the prerequisite for the award of the venia legendi (right to teach). The duration of the habilitation procedure should not exceed twelve months from submission of the application for admission. The applicant must have a special qualification for scientific work, which is evidenced by proof of a doctoral examination at a German university or an equivalent academic degree from a foreign scientific university. The applicant must prove that he/she has carried out further academic work after the doctorate in the academic subject for which he/she is aiming to obtain the teaching qualification.
