Here you will find all the information you need to support you during your doctorate or early post-doc phase. The faculty regularly organises events for early career researchers to support you during this phase of your career. You can also find an overview of other offers at the UDE and the Research Academy Ruhr, the support programme of the University Alliance Ruhr together with Ruhr-Universität Bochum and TU Dortmund University.

Events/Dates
Regular network meetings, workshops and other events are published under the following link and announced via the mailing list. In this way, we can build up a large network of Early Carer Researchers from the faculty to exchange ideas about everyday research or everyday situations.

Graduate Center Plus
The Graduate Centre Plus (GSC) is the central point of contact at the University of Duisburg-Essen for interdisciplinary questions relating to doctoral studies, the post-doc phase and the path to a professorship. With transparent information and individual counselling, we support you on your career path according to your needs.
Science Support Center
The Science Support Centre (SSC) advises on funding opportunities for basic and applied research in close cooperation with the responsible third-party funding department of the administration. The SSC also offers a wealth of information on funding from foundations or science prizes.
Research Academy Ruhr
The Research Academy Ruhr (RAR) is the cross-location platform of Ruhr-Universität Bochum, TU Dortmund University and the University of Duisburg-Essen for the promotion of scientists on their career path within and beyond academic research.
Promotion und Habilitation
Habilitation
The habilitation should certify the ability to independently represent a scientific subject of the Faculty of Engineering in research and teaching It is the prerequisite for the award of the Venia Legendi (authorisation to teach). The duration of the habilitation procedure should not exceed twelve months from the submission of the application for admission. The applicant must have a special aptitude for academic work, which is demonstrated by proof of a doctoral examination at a German university or an equivalent academic degree from a foreign academic university, and must prove that he/she has continued to work academically in the academic subject for which he/she is seeking the teaching qualification after the doctorate.
