Here you will find all the information you need to support you during your doctorate or early post-doc phase. The faculty regularly organises events for early career researchers to support you during this phase of your career. You can also find an overview of other offers at the UDE and the Research Academy Ruhr, the support programme of the University Alliance Ruhr together with Ruhr-Universität Bochum and TU Dortmund University.

Regular network meetings, workshops and other events are published under the following link and announced via the mailing list. In this way, we can build up a large network of Early Carer Researchers from the faculty to exchange ideas about everyday research or everyday situations.

Habilitation

The habilitation should certify the ability to independently represent a scientific subject of the Faculty of Engineering in research and teaching It is the prerequisite for the award of the Venia Legendi (authorisation to teach). The duration of the habilitation procedure should not exceed twelve months from the submission of the application for admission. The applicant must have a special aptitude for academic work, which is demonstrated by proof of a doctoral examination at a German university or an equivalent academic degree from a foreign academic university, and must prove that he/she has continued to work academically in the academic subject for which he/she is seeking the teaching qualification after the doctorate.
